Nick Webb to face Hungarian champion in next fight
Nick ‘Wild’ Webb (4-0), unbeaten heavyweight prospect from Chertsey, faces Hungarian Zoltan Csala (9-5) at The SSE Arena, Wembley this Saturday, live on Channel 5.
The Hennessy Sports promoted show featuring the headlining fight between British middleweight champion Nicky Blackwell and challenger Chris Eubank Jr. will be televised live on terrestrial TV this Saturday and has been labelled by promoter Mick Hennessy as, “The best fight in world boxing.”
Webb, 28-years-old, has four first round KO’s on his perfect record, managed by former World heavyweight title contender – Scott Welch.
Csala, 38-years-old, is a former Hungarian heavyweight champion, also winning the WBF International heavyweight title at the same time back in December 2014. The Hungarian known as ‘Furioso’ has a tattoo circling his right eye, giving him a menacing look.
“Zoltan Csala is definitely a step up, he’s got a tattoo on his face and he looks tough,” said Webb. “He’s had nine wins with seven KO’s so he can hit.”
Csala’s previous visit to the UK was in May last year to challenge then unbeaten Gary Cornish for the IBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title, which provided the ‘Highlander’ with his last fight before losing his perfect record to Anthony Joshua.
Webb is more than prepared for the meeting with the Hungarian national titlist after expert sparring during his latest training camp, he explained, “I’ve been sparring Richard Towers and a guy call Matteo Modugno, a four-time Italian heavyweight champion who’s 18-0, and Towers is 15-1, at their gyms in Redhill. “I was supposed to fight on the 18th but the show got cancelled, so to be fighting a week later is quite lucky for me so I’m raring to go.”
Webb is firmly focused on this weekend’s fight but has a bigger date to look forward to in just eight week’s time. “Out this weekend, then Haye Day on May 21st,” the 28-year-old confirmed. “Then out again in June in Brighton.”
The heavyweight prospect, a former ABA champion, plans to light up the Greenwich peninsula on his sixth pro bout on the huge O2 Arena event centred around the former World heavyweight champion – David Haye.
“I’m all about big shows,” enthused the heavy-hitter. “I’m supposed to be on the big stage. I’ve got this weekend’s fight on TV, then the O2 show to look forward to; I just need to make it the ‘Nick Webb show’.”
He continued, “With me being on the big shows means that more people are going to see me and take notice, and obviously it helps being a heavyweight and that I’m knocking everyone out in the first round.”
Web will share the bill on Saturday with Hughie Fury (18-0), Kane Heron (3-0), Young Fury (6-1), Yusuf Safa (5-0), Frank Buglioni (17-2-1), Ricky Boylan (13-3) and Peter McDonagh (25-28-1).
The main event will see the highly-anticipated domestic dust-up between 25-year-old British champion Blackwell and 26-year-old challenger Eubank Jr., who gets his second crack at the Lonsdale belt after he faltered in his first attempt back in 2014 when Billy Joe Saunders handed him his only professional defeat to date. Since losing to Saunders, Eubank Jr. has embarked on an exciting run of three consecutive stoppages over Dmitry Chudinov, Tony Jeter and Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan to earn a second shot at the coveted Lonsdale Belt. The champion, hailing from Trowbridge in Wiltshire, who also has a defeat to WBO middleweight champion Saunders on his record, won his British belt last May with a knockout of John Ryder at The O2 Arena, live on Sky Sports. Blackwell has also impressed of late with title defenses over Damon Jones and Jack Arnfield in 2015, ensuring that he owns the Lonsdale belt outright.
