Undercard Highlights
Two heavyweight prospects Hosea Stewart and Matty Harris both make their professional debuts, having signed promotional terms with Wasserman Boxing earlier this year.
24-year-old Stewart is is a two-time Midlands champion, ABA finalist and GB Amateur Championship winner. He was handpicked by Anthony Joshua as a sparring partner for his fight with Kubrat Pulev.
21-year-old Harris hails from Leamington and has already built a reputation as a fearsome puncher. The ASDA employee now aims to go from supermarket worker to superstar boxer.
Background
Harvey Horn is unbeaten in nine professional fights, and aims to take that number into double figures on Thursday night.
However, that will not be an easy task, because not only as 'HHH' had to prepare for another new opponent for a second time, but the 26-year-old southpaw is now going up against hard-hitting former Tanzanian champion Fadhili Majiha, an experienced operator who dropped Andrew Selby twice from the away corner in 2019.
The 28-year-old first debuted back in 2008 and became a national champion at super-flyweight in just his sixth contest. He has since been involved in over a dozen championship fights, with 46 bouts and 281 rounds of experience under his belt. He has won four from his last five fights, with the only reverse coming at the hands of skilful Welshman Andrew Selby, who was floored twice by Majiha but managed to win narrowly on points.
European silver medallist and outstanding amateur, Horn, returns to action following a unanimous points win over Adam Yahaya in October 2 at The SSE Arena, Wembley, and now he is back in the ring just eight weeks later, keen to continue the momentum needed to take over the flyweight division. He plans to challenge for world titles in his next three fights, he has stated.
The WBO European titlist has also promised fight fans a masterclass as he headlines his first event for Wasserman Boxing.
Quotes
Harvey Horn: “I’m buzzing. I’m really looking forward to it. Obviously, the change of opponent hasn’t been ideal but it’s not bothering me really. I’m experienced enough now to know that no matter what my opponent brings, I should be able to counter it, nullify them, and beat whoever is in front of me.
“I’ve had a little look at my opponent. I’ve seen what he does. I’ve seen he can whack a bit, but I know what I’ve got to do. I’ve got 10 rounds to impose my game plan on him and I’m confident I can get the job done. I’ve had a great camp, I’m in great shape and my sparring has been good.
“The ball is rolling now. The main problem in my career so far has been inactivity. Since signing with Wasserman Boxing, I’ve had two fights in eight weeks. They know that if I’m pushed correctly and kept busy then it’s world honours for me.
“I did what I said I was going to do in my last fight. It was my first fight back after two years out and I boxed great. Obviously, I was still a bit rusty so there was bound to be things that I didn’t do spot on, but this time, I’ve got no excuses. I’m a fresh, active fighter so this fight should be nothing less than a masterclass. I’m putting that pressure on myself. I believe that with what I’ve been doing in the gym and how good I’m feeling, it’s going to be a masterclass.”
Predictions
Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “I think Harvey Horn will do exactly as he promised already, and deliver a masterclass. Having only just fought, he'll be sharper, fitter and more determined than his opponent. It's his chance in the spotlight and I believe he will take his opportunity to shine and win a one-sided unanimous points decision.”
