Hannah Rankin aims to bounce back from Savannah Marshall loss
Fight Africa Promotions have announced a PPV event on March 12, titled ‘A New Era in South African Boxing’
Fight Africa Promotions' bumper 12-fight card launches on March 12th and will be broadcast on SEi and exclusively live via PPV.
The event will feature a host of African talent and International stars, such as former world titleholder Hannah Rankin, as Fight Africa Promotions aim to establish a thriving boxing scene for the continent.
The stacked card has been designed to cater for all boxing fans, with boxers from flyweight all the way up to the bruising heavyweight divison in what promises to be an action-packed affair.
The main event will feature Super-Welterweight title action as 'The Warrior of Faith' Cristiano Ndombassy (11-4, 9 KO’s) goes head-to-head with the undefeated South African Jami Webb (6-0, 3 KO’s). An exciting clash of styles as the Angolan native, Ndombassy, will look to impose his power-punches in what is set to be fledgling Webb’s biggest test to date against a force who has nine knockouts from 11 victories. However, Webb will be incentivised knowing that has fallen short in all his title fights and was defeated by another unbeaten prospect in his last bout.
From Scotland to South Africa, Glasgow's Hannah Rankin (9-5, 2KOs) is back to business following her WBO world middleweight title defeat to unbeaten Savannah Marshall (9-0, 7KOs) last October on the undercard of the Usyk vs Chisora Sky SPorts Box Office event. The fight, which ended in round seven, was so dramatic it won a prestigious WBC 2020 Award.
The ‘Classical Warrior’ faces a tough test when she goes up against two-time South African champion Kholosa Ndobayini (13-9, 3KOs) over eight two-minute rounds.
Rankin made history for her home country when she became the first ever female boxing world champion from Scotland by winning the IBO World Female super-welterweight title in 2019. She has also bravely gone the full 10-rounds with arguably the greatest female fighter in history when she clashed with Claressa Sheilds for the vacant WBC World Female middleweight title in 2018, seven months before her crowning glory took place.
Aged 30, Rankin still has plenty to offer the sport, and this 15th contest is desgined to get her back to winning ways to be able to mix it at world level again.
There's more notable names on the card with Cruiserweight Mohammad Ali Bayat Farid (16-2-1, 16KOs) as he faces Mussa Ajibu (28-16-5, 24KOs) in what promises to be an explosive bout. All 16 of Bayat’s victories have been by knockout, and his Malawi opponent Ajibu has won 24 from 28 contests via KO. A combined 40 knockouts between both boxers, makes this an explosive fight not to be missed!
Heavyweight action as Juan Roux faces Nico Yamdjie. The highly-touted Roux is looking to build on his flawless record to date. A victory would set him up perfectly for a big 2021.
Debuts for rising stars Emile Brits and Dwayne Dodzo, as they aim to make tracks in the Super-Welterweight division and Super-Middleweight division respectively.
Dillon Solomons got his career off to an impressive start with a victory at the end of 2020 and will be hoping to impress on March 12th.
Athenkosi Plaatjies, Darrin Rossouw, Daniel Pontac and Wasim Chellan will all be aiming to impress on the big screen and extend their impressive start to the professional ranks.
