Hamed Ghaz lands maiden title shot
Undefeated lightweight prospect Hamed Ghaz (17-0, 4KOs) returns to the ring on October 23 at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena, after earning rave reviews with his last performance.
Bradford's Ghaznewal will take on Italian lightweight champion, Vincenzo Finiello (15-4-2, 1KO), for the IBO Continental Title with all the action being shown live by exciting new boxing broadcaster, Fightzone.
Last time out in June, the Bradford man, known as 'Hurricane ' Hamed, was punch perfect when demolishing former top amateur Liam Shinkwin in just three rounds to record the best win of his seven-year career.
With a fight against English champ Myron Mills mandated for the early part of 2022, Ghaz’s future is looking extremely bright and the confident 25-year-old says fight fans can expect another dazzling performance against Finiello before he takes the English crown from Mills in the New Year.
Lazio's Finiello was the Italian lightweight champion in 2020. The southpaw challenged four times for the national title before he eventually won it via unanimous decision in August last year. He has four reverses on his record but has won all his last five fights, carrying some good momentum into this 10-round championship contest in his first fight in the UK.
On what will be a lively night of boxing at Ponds Forge, chief support will see promising local fighter Keanen Wainwright in his first title fight against Liverpool’s Tom McGuinness for the Central Area Lightweight belt. Both men have just a single defeat from six and seven bouts respectively, and this is a fight where the outcome is genuinely hard to call.
Also on the bill will be Leeds’ Reece Cartwright; Sheffield’s Muheeb Fazeldin, James Rayworth and John Fewkes; Danny Murrel from Doncaster, and Danny Hall and Matty Heppingstall from Barnsley.
