Get to know unbeaten middleweight prospect Harry Woods

BBN visited the thriving Everton Red Triangle Gym in Liverpool to meet emerging middleweight talent, Harry Woods.

We threw 40 quickfire questions at the 160-pounder to get to know the fledgling pro better:

Nickname? “I don’t have one.”

Favourite all-time boxer? “I like Julio Cesar Chavez and Marvin Hagler.”

Favourite current boxer? “From recent times, Andre Ward.”

Favourite fight? “Corrales vs Castillo.”

Boxing clubs? “I started at Kirkby ABC, then moved to Tower Hill as a senior; now I'm pro at Everton Red Triangle.”

Amateur honours? “ABA semi-finals, boxed in the Team GB Championships, and represented England four times.”

Biggest achievement in boxing? “Turning pro.”

Toughest ever opponent? “Peter Mullenberg. He went to the Olympics twice, I boxed him the Eindhoven Box Cup in 2017. It was a close fight that I lost on points, but was good experience for me.”

Goals in boxing? “I just want to go far as I can go. The British title would be one of my goals, but just literally wanna' take as it comes.”

Retirement age? “Nah, I haven’t really got one.”

Team? “Paul Stevenson is my trainer and manager, and all the lads at Everton Red Triangle.”

Boxing style? “I do like to come forward and work on the inside.”

Ring walk song? “I haven’t got one, I change it every time.”

Pre-fight rituals? “Not really, although I always put my left boot on first, but it's not really a ritual, it's something I do all the time.”

Favourite brand of gloves? “Cleto Reyes.”

Best venue? “The Echo Arena in the ABAs.”

Best belt? “The British title for the history.”

Favourite football team? “I’m not really into football, to be honest.”

Other sports? “Just boxing and UFC.”

Favourite holiday destination? “I haven’t really got a favourite place, to be honest.”

Favourite TV programme? “Just finished watching Top Boy.”

Favourite film? “I like Training Day.”

What actor would play you in a film of your life? “Leonardo Di Caprio.”

Favourite music? “I'm into all tyes of music really.”

Favourite food? “Probably Thai or Indian.”

Favourite restaurant? “I like an Indian restaurant called Mowgli in Liverpool..”

Favourite superhero? “I haven’t really got one, to be honest.”

What fight do you want to see happen this year? “Errol Spence vs Terence Crawford.”

If you could fight anyone, past or present, who would it be? “Roberto Duran.”

What is the best division to watch in boxing and why? “I like watching the middleweights because it is my weight, but also because you see quite a few knockouts.”

What is most important to you in your career between money and glory? “Preferably both, money and glory!”

Where do you want to be in your career in exactly one year’s time from now? “Hopefully 8-0 and pushing on towards titles.”
