Queensbury light-heavyweight champion Ace Adam, 24 from South London, took time out from his hectic training schedule to talk to BBN to answer 40 quickfire questions ahead of his forthcoming debut:

Nickname? “Lightning Ace.”
Favourite all-time boxer? “Roy Jones Jr.”
Favourite current boxer? “Andre Ward.”
Favourite fight? “Rumble in the Jungle – Muhammed Ali vs George Foreman.”
Boxing clubs? “I first started at Balham Boxing Gym, then moved from there to Sting ABC in Croydon.”
Amateur honours? “I started boxing in 2011, when I was 17, and had my first fight less than a year later in 2012. I had 18 amateur fights in total. I was a Novice ABA finalist in 2013.”
Biggest achievement in boxing? “Reaching the Novice ABA’s finals in 2013 with one hand was a big achievement. I injured my right hand and could only jab my way through the fights. Winning the QBL light-heavyweight national title and going undefeated in six fights was also an achievement.”
Toughest ever opponent? “A guy called Ola from Double Jab Boxing Gym in New Cross. We fought in the semi-finals of the Novice championships, he was relentless and he won on points.”
Goals in boxing? “To be a Southern Area champion, then I’d look at English and British – those are my goals at the moment and to just take it step by step.”
Retirement age? “Roughly about 35.”
Team? “Scott Welch is my manager, Eyes is my trainer, Rickardo is my media manager, Kyle my strength and conditioning coach, I'm an ambassador of Bio Synergy, who provide al my sports nutrition.”
Boxing style? “Exciting, explosive, entertaining and unique. I want to be a complete fighter like Bernard Hopkins, he could do anything.”
Ring walk song? “Normally have different ones, my last one was Mavado – I’m So Special.”
Pre-fight rituals? “No, I literally just listen to Eric Thomas, he’s a motivational speaker, and focus on what I need to do.”
Favourite brand of gloves? “Ringside gloves and I like Everlast.”
Best venue? “The Troxy in Stepney.”
Best belt? “WBC.”
Favourite football team? “Arsenal FC.”
Other sports? “Football, UFC – I like Jon Jones, I like watching tennis.”
Favourite holiday destination? “I would like to go to Dubai, but best place I’ve been to is America.”

What fight do you want to see happen this year? “I’d love to see AJ vs Deontay Wilder, and in the near future I’d like to see Anthony Yarde vs Joshua Buatsi.”
If you could fight anyone, past or present, who would it be? “In the past, I’d love to fight Roy Jones Jr; in the present, I’d love to fight Chris Eubank Jr.”
What is the best division to watch in boxing and why? “It would have to be super-middleweight and heavyweights. Heavyweights, because it only takes one punch; and super-middleweights because there’s speed and power.”
What is most important to you in your career between money or glory? “My family.”
Where do you want to be in your career in exactly one year’s time from now? “On the verge of fighting for the Southern Area title.”
Tell us something that not many people know about you? “I’m a pescatarian.”
