Sarah Bormann ready to defend WBC Interim title
This coming Saturday, June 24, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, the Interim strawweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Sarah Bormann (16-0, 7KO), will face the tough Mexican Perla Pérez (8-6-1, 1KO) over 10 two-minute rounds.
The German champion is an undefeated boxer who has already won half a dozen titles in the pro ranks, consistently showing high quality in all her fights. She comes to this contest after having defended her title against Yadira Bustillos, last May.
She became WBC Silver champion in May 2021, defeating Catalina Diaz away from home in Belgrade. On the exact same day, one year later, May 21, 2022, Bormann became a world champion when she conquered Ana Arrazola with three wide scores of 100-89 to claim the IBO World minimumweight title.
She captured the WBC Interim belt with a win over undefeated Yadira Bustillos just last month and now she heads back to the ring in quick time to defend the prestigious title. Her last eight bouts have all been championship contests and she has won them all by unanimous decision.
Perla Pérez, 29, trains in Mexico, coached by experienced Manuel López, in addition to having the support of former world champion Anabel Ortiz. She is highly motivated for this fight.
The event will be broadcast live on DAZN.
