George “El YuYu” Acosta (12-1, 1 KO), of Whittier, California, will face Isaac “Canelito” Avelar (16-4, 10 KOs) of Aguascalientes, Mexico, on July 22, 2022.
Acosta vs. Avelar is an 8-round main event bout in the super featherweight division to headline Thompson Boxing’s “New Blood” series.
This event will take place at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, CA. Doors open at 6:30 pm PT with the first fight starting at 8:00 pm PT.

Acosta: “Avelar is a tough opponent that will be coming with everything he's got. He’s fought some very good fighters, so I know he’ll be well prepared going into this fight. But let's be honest, I need to stand-out, so I must perform at a high level to gain the respect of the fans. I want fans to be excited when I fight. I know my opponent will be willing to exchange and take chances, and I'm looking forward to the challenge. The goal of this fight is a stoppage, but I am not going to solely look for it. I want to be recognized as a top prospect in my division and a nice performance against Avelar will accomplish that.”
Brewart Jr: “I know my opponent is durable and reckless. This is a great chance for me to display composure, focus, talent, and punching power. Ayala is a worthy opponent, but I feel I’m much more superior. I need and want to stop him, that is the ultimate goal.”
