Gabriela Diana Fundora moves up to 11-0
With a spring in her step, Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (11-0, 4KO) continues her march towards the conquest of the flyweight division, defeating María “Imparable” Micheo Santizo, last Saturday afternoon at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Both fighters got involved in an incessant exchange of punches in which María Micheo managed to impose herself at short and medium distance.
Although it was not easy for the fighter from Coachella, California, Fundora managed to gain the edge, even though she suffered a nose injury, which caused profuse bleeding.
A precise punch to the body and then face of her opponent allowed Gabriela Fundora to dominate. In the sixth rounds, with a solid hook to the abdominal area followed by a right to her face, she managed to put the Central American fighter on the canvas, for a count from referee Jack Reiss.
From that moment on, the dominance of Gabriela Fundora was total. But, thanks to Micheo`s stout heart she was able to go the whole distance
At the end of the eight rounds, the Judges saw Gabriela Fundora as the winner with scores of 79-72 (Rudy Barragán), 79-72 (Loya Moret) and 77-74 (Fernando Villarreal).
