Former opponent Gabriel Rosado previews John Ryder vs Daniel Jacobs
Tonight will see American Daniel Jacobs (37-3, 30KOs) and Briton John Ryder (30-5, 17KOs) clash at the iconic Alexandra Palace in a WBA super middleweight eliminator.
A future shot at a world title is at stake for both men who are each looking to extend their careers at the highest level with a win. Ryder is 33 and Jacobs 35, with 75 pro fights between them.
Gabriel Rosado took 'The Miracle Man' all the way to a split decision verdict – reversed again him – in Jacobs' last fight in November 2020.
The 36-year-old previewed tonight's fight on The DAZN Boxing Show, highlighting that Ryder needs to stand any chance of beating the Brooklyn boxer.
"I think they’re going to feel each other out, but I think the momentum is going to lean towards Ryder," Rosado commented.
"I think Ryder needs to stay active, stay busy.
"He’s the shorter guy, but I’d prefer him to fight on the outside rather than try and smother Jacobs."
Rosado then explained what Ryder needs to avoid against the 40-fight veteran.
"Jacobs is a better fighter when he’s on his back foot, but if you make Jacobs walk you down, you’ve got an advantage on him," he claimed.
"I think Ryder should use his southpaw slickness, his jab, use the angles and then in spots work the inside and take it right back to the outside."
