Nina Radovanovic and Souad Masmoudi clash tonight for WBC Francophone belt
This Wednesday, November 8, at the Majdan Hotel in Belgrade, Serbia, local fighter Nina Radovanovic (16-4, 4KO) will face France’s Souad Masmoudi (3-0-1) for the World Boxing Council’s Francophone light flyweight title.
Former IBO World flyweight titlist Nina, 31 from Rakovica, Serbia, comes into this fight after defeating Bulgarian Venelina Poptoleva by decision last October. She fought for the WBC World light-fly title in just her 10th bout, after reaching 9-0, but was stopped in round three by the experienced Ibeth Zamora Silva, who was boxing in her 32nd bout.
She won the IBO World title in 2018 and recently challenged Dina Thorslund for the Dane's WBO World super-bantamweight title but was beaten widely on points. Nina came back this year, after over two years away from the ring, to reel off two victoires in February and September and now aims to finish the year unbeaten with a title round her waist.
For Souad’s part, she comes to this fight after drawing with the Spanish Isabel Rivero in April, but remains unbeaten in her career.
Masmoudi and Rivero battled it out for the WBF International light-fly belt but two judges scored it either way and one was even, meaning the belt remained vacant. It was Masmoudi’s first ever title fight in just fourth bout, going the full 10-round distance having previously only experience two four-rounds and a six.
Both fighters passed the official weigh-in without problem on Tuesday. The supervisor will be the Vice President of the WBC, Houcine Houichi.
This event will be in memory and remembrance of Miroslav Popovic, former president of the Serbian federation and former member of the WBC board of governors.
