Fight postponement – Archie Sharp vs Marcio Soza cancelled
Archie Sharp’s (19-0, 9KOs) opponent for this weekend, Marcio Soza (21-6-2, 12KOs), has unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19.
Frank Warren announced, "We will look to reschedule the fight for July with more news coming."
The rivals were all set to clash for the vacant WBO Global super-featherweight championship.
The South London 'Sharpshooter' was facing 30-year-old Nicaraguan Marcio Soza in his first fight since August of last year following his recovery from an arm injury. The former WBO European champion, ranked at No.4 in the world by the governing body, was entering into his first fight since switching his training base to Alan Smith's Queensberry iBox Gym in Bromley. His Nicaraguan opponent is currently enjoying a 11-fight winning streak and is the current holder of the WBA Fedelatin title, which he won in December of 2020.
The announcement came on the same day as Tommy Fury's next opponent was revealed as unbeaten Scot Jordan Grant (2-0).
Grant believes Fury will get the shock of his life this weekend as the Love Island star faces a step up in class in a Light-Heavyweight four rounder at the Telford International Centre, live on BT Sport.
