Arijan Goricki vs Emiliano Salvini
Featherweight prospect Arijan Goricki (9-1-1, 4KOs) faces two-weight Italian champion Emiliano Salvini (19-35-2, 2KOs) over eight-rounds on December 18 in Velesajam, Zagreb, Croatia, broadcast live on Zapad TV.
The pair weighed in successfully today, with Croatian Arijan Goricki registering 57,0 kg / 125,6 lbs on the scales and Italian Emiliano Salvini slightly over the limit at 58,9 kg / 129,8 lbs.
24-year-old 'Archie' Goricki said of his forthcoming foe, "The opponent is an experienced and strong boxer from Italy. This is not the opponent we were looking for, Salvini is the only one who eventually accepted the fight.
"Emiliano Salvini boxed with everyone in his career, and with world champions like Kid Galahad, he gave everyone a hard fight. He made his debut in 2000 and in his career he fought for European and many different titles, he was two-times champion of Italy. Against him, almost no one had a great performance and managed to knock him out, I hope to be the one to succeed in that.
"I wanted much bigger names for this fight, but unfortunately that was not possible, no matter who is opposite me in the ring, I want to prove myself, so it will be the same this time. Unfortunately, the audience will not be able to attend, but that is why Zapad Television has made sure that everyone can follow the fight through their social media and television."
Goricki's sole career defeat was to unbeaten Valerii Romanenia, which he avenged in his very next fight.
He concluded, "I need to thank my friends and sponsors who support me and help me to rank myself on the world scene, that soon I will."
