Frenchman Faycal Rezkallah wins WBC Mediterranean title
Frenchman Faycal Rezkallah (9-3-0-1, 1KO) captured the vacant World Boxing Council Mediterranean lightweight title by defeating Italian Vincenzo Finiello (17-7-2, 2KO) in Lyon, France.
The fight was hotly contested, with both warriors showing the best of their repertoire to provide an entertaining fight. Both exchanged blows in the center of the ring in some rounds, fighting up close, exciting the spectators.
The judges’ scores were Giovanni Poggi 96-94 and Bruno Dubois 98-92 in favor of Rezkallah, while Tamara Peric saw the fight 95-96 in favor of Finiello.
The supervisor of this fight was the Vice President of the WBC, Houcine Houichi.
The 34-year-old from Lyon recently challenged for the IBO Mediterranean super-lightweight title losing via split decision to Ricardo Fernandez in July 2022.
Rezkallah fought Craig Woodruff in Wales in 2021 and also travelled to America to face Ryan O'Rourke – he lost to both boxers over six rounds.
