Evander Holyfield is a Tyson Fury fan
Expect the unexpected. That’s how the legendary Hall of Famer Evander Holyfield describes reigning WBC titleholder Tyson Fury, who’s considered by many as the top dog in a stacked heavyweight division.
Fury (30-0-1, 21KOs) cemented his place at the top of the pile when he fought Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41KOs) in their blockbuster rematch in February, flooring the previously undefeated American thrice on the way to a stunning 7th round TKO victory at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
That sensational performance completed the ‘Gypsy King’s magnificent journey back to the top of the heavyweight division, which was previously dominated by Holyfield in the 90s.
When asked who he views as the best heavyweight in the world, Holyfield told Sky Sports:“Tyson Fury. He can fight! The difference in people is how hard they work.
“He has long arms and throws shots that you don’t see. He can make adjustments. Boxing is mental – it’s about who is stronger in the mind, that outweighs physical things.
“People thought they could beat me because of how I look. With Fury, he doesn’t look like he can do it but he keeps proving that he can.”
