Evaldas Korsakas retains his Central Area super-welterweight belt against Chris Jenkinson
Evaldas Korsakas (7-5-2) successfully defended his Central Area super-welterweight title against Chris Jenkinson (10-49-3) at City Hall in Hull on October 27.
The 26-year-old southpaw from Hull forced the stoppage in the fifth-round of their scheduled 10-round championship contest on a five-fight VIP Promotions card. The champion was deploying his jab well before he unloading a blisteringly fast left hand over the top that caught Jenkinson cold and dropped him heavily. He stayed down for several minutes while he received medical attention.
Bolton's 'Twinny' has now lost 49 from 62 professional contests, Korsakas handing him his ninth stoppage defeat in his six-year career.
The Lithuanian, who had a chequered record in his debut year, has now not lost in five fights.
There were wins for all five of the home fighters – Danny Little, Matthew Wigglesworth, Ryan Gibbons, Isaac Lowe and the aforementioned headliner Evaldas Korsakas.
