Lubin vs. Fundora – interim WBC title + WBC stats
Former world title contender Erickson 'The Hammer' Lubin (24-1, 17KOs) and undefeated Sebastian 'The Towering Inferno' Fundora (18-0-1, 12KOs) will fight on April 9th at the Virgin Hotels Theater in Las Vegas for the interim World Boxing Council super-welterweight title on a card presented by PBC and to be broadcast on SHOWTIME.
The winner between Lubin, 26, and Fundora, 24, will soon have to face the winner of the rematch between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castaño.
Southpaw Lubin, of Orlando, Florida, is riding a six-fight winning streak coming into this fight with Fundora. The 26-year-old holder of the WBC Silver super-welterweight title most recently knocked out former champion Jeison Rosario in the sixth round on June 26 in Atlanta in a maiden defence of the belt.
The 6 foot – 6 inches Fundora will have the toughest test of his career against Lubin. The tall southpaw improved his record to 18 wins, without loss, when he defeated unbeaten Spaniard Sergio Garcia by unanimous decision in an entertaining elimination bout on December 5 in Los Angeles. Spain's 'El Nino' was a former European champion who had defeated some notable names, such as British champion Ted Cheeseman.
