North Devon's newest national champion Billy Stanbury turns pro
Goodwin Boxing have secured the acquisition of highly talented England International amateur and national title winner Billy Stanbury from North Devon.
An experienced amateur with 63 bouts to his name, Billy built his amateur career at Bideford ABC and will turn professional under the coaching of Richard Grigg.
Still only 23 years of age, Billy feels that this is the ideal time to turn professional and this exciting middleweight will be targeting a Southern Area title initially before going onto even bigger titles.
A Southpaw who has every single attribute to be a top class pro Billy will be making his debut October/November 2019 and is eager to show everyone what he is made of.
“Boxing is booming down my area now," the debutant enthused.
"We have Brad Pauls boxing for the Southern Area title this week and Goodwin Boxing are making some great signings and already have some good fighters in my area of the country. I will definitely be another champion from my area under the management of Steve Goodwin.”
Former England amateur captain Tommy Langford, who enjoyed wins over Anthony Fowler and Callum Smith in the amateurs, is the most successful product of the thriving Bideford boxing club in North Devon. He regularly returns from his base in Birmingham where he won British and Commonwealth titles as a pro, to support the club and it's boxers.
Promoter Steve Goodwin was full of praise for Billy, “Billy has every single attribute we are looking for in a fighter and cannot wait to start on the journey with him.”
