Ellis Hopkins enjoyed an extremely successful amateur career, representing England for a number of years and winning numerous accolades such as the Youth National Championship and a Tri Nations Silver medal in 2017.
The 19-year-old is also a 10-time Box Cup champion, and she’s extremely excited about the future after teaming up with MTK Global.
Hopkins said: “I’m proud to sign with MTK Global. I’ve been boxing since I can remember, and I don’t think I’ve left the gym for the last 10 years,
I’ve decided to turn professional as I think my style will suit it better than the amateurs. I’ve always wanted to turn professional and going to the Olympics has never been the dream, being a unified world champion is the dream.”
Promoter Lee Eaton added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Ellis to the team. She achieved a lot as an amateur and we’re looking forward to seeing what she is capable of in the professional ranks.
“Ellis has a huge fan base in Leicester and is a massive ticket seller, so we’re hoping this leads to a #MTKFightNight event in Leicester at some point in the near future.
“She’s now part of a booming women’s scene in boxing at the moment and joins big names like Chantelle Cameron and Tasha Jonas at MTK Global, so we can’t wait for her to get started.”
News on the professional debut of Hopkins after becoming an MTK Global fighter will be announced in due course.
