Lloyd Ellett ready for Adam Grabiec challenge
Brighton boxer ‘Lightning Bolt’ Lloyd Ellett weighed in at 10st 10lbs ahead of his 21st professional contest set for April 1st at Tolworth Recreation Centre on a Hunt Promotions show.
Travelling opponent, Adam Grabiec was heavier on the scales at 10st 13lbs. The Polish super-welterweight comes into the contest off the back of a first round stoppage, his only fight in his native country during the past two years.
The previous four contests prior to his last win were all fought (and lost) in the UK to Peter McDonagh, Nathan McIntosh, Dale Evans, and Dee Walsh.
Ellett, a three-time Masters champion, commented, “I’m hoping to get a couple of good wins in and then push on to titles.”
The 29-year-old Sussex fighter recently switched camps from Alan Smith’s iBox Gym to manager Scott Welch’s Brighton-based gym where he joins teammates Nick Jenman – the current Southern Area middleweight champion and unbeaten heavyweight prospect – Nick Webb.
“I had decided after the last fight in mid-February that it was time for me to move on, I had begun to go a bit stale and we parted on the best of terms,” the super-welterweight talent said.
In his previous bout on February 12th, Ellett moved up 19-1 with a shut-out points win over Slovakian opponent, Andrej Moravek (2-5-1) over six three-minute rounds at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton.
The 29-year-old Sussex boxer, who has competed in exactly 100 rounds in his four-and-a-half-year career, used to captain the Brighton and Hove boxing club run by former World heavyweight title contender Scott Welch, where he is now based since making the move.
Welch, a former British and Commonwealth champion, has managed Ellett since the start of his pro career and their long and lasting relationship in the sport extends back to his early amateur days.
Headlining fight on the Tolworth bill is unbeaten super-bantamweight prospect, Thomas Kindon (7-0) who goes up against Georgian, Mikheil Soloninkini (6-17-1) for the British Challenge belt.
The Guildford City Gym star known as the ‘Pocket Rocket’ is a six-time national amateur champion and the pair set to lock horns tomorrow night are both aged 21-years-old.
