Elizabeth Oshoba wins WBC Silver title
Unbeaten Nigerian boxer Elizabeth Oshoba (7-0, 4KO) defeated Italian Michela Braga (6-1) at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, on January 13, winning the World Boxing Council Silver featherweight strap.
From the beginning of the 10-round contest, 24-year-old African Oshoba showed her best boxing and superior quality, dominating 33-year-old Braga clearly from the outset.
Braga went down in the eighth, then was stopped 40 seconds into the 10th and final round. The Judges’ scores were 88-82, 87-83 and 90-80, all in favour of the stronger Oshoba at the point of stoppage.
Elizabeth improved her record to 7 wins and 4 knockouts, while Michela lost the first fight of her career, leaving her with 6 wins and one loss.
Talented youngster Oshoba pickes up the second title of her career with her seventh win. In her last fight, in November 2023, she collected the IBO International super-featherweight belt.
The Nigerian is now ranked #11 by BoxRec, in one of female boxing's most poulated weights, containing the likes of Amanda Serrano, Sarah Mahfoud, Nina Meinke, Skye Nicolson and the up-and-coming Brit boxer, Raven Chapman.
