Eddie Hearn interested in matching AJ with Francis Ngannou on December 23
Eddie Hearn has reached out to Francis Ngannou's team about fighting former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua on December 23.
The Matchroom Boxing promoter told Boxing News that "We'd take that fight on December 23, no problem.
"We're looking at that date for Joshua anyway. AJ's ready, December 23, no problem at all.
"Our plan at the moment, or pre-Saturday, was to fight in December or January and fight Deontay Wilder, that's still the case. But I've reached out to Ngannou's team today to say just if we're in your plans, let me know, if not don't worry about it. And we'll just go ahead with what we're doing.
"But I've not even spoken to AJ about the Ngannou fight, but my advice would be to take it in a heartbeat."
Former Southern Area champion, Ben Day, who runs Ringtone Boxing Gym in London replied to Eddie's comments on Twitter to plead, "Come on Eddie, please don't go down that road".
Another fan replied, "Typical Eddie to jump on any money train with his cash cow".
BBN Editor, Tim Rickson, added his views, "I can see the negativity this news is receiving, but I find myself agreeing with Eddie that this is a fight AJ should take in a heartbeat. It's a big name, so lots of money involved, plus it's a fight that can be billed as 50/50, but one that I think AJ could win quite convincingly.
"The Wilder fight seems to remain their priority though, which is a huge fight that everyone wants to see."
