Eddie Hearn discusses Canelo Alvarez vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Canelo Alvarez vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko is reportedly now being finalised for Canelo’s next fight, Eddie Hearn has confirmed.
The unified middleweight champion was in talks to move up and challenge Sergey Kovalev for his light-heavyweight crown, but the Russian will defend against the mandatory challenger Anthony Yarde instead.
The IBF ordered the fight with Matchroom Boxing's Derevyanchenko many months ago but broadcaster DAZN were reluctant to agree to the contest but have now done so.
It’s understood that the potential dates are October 19 or October 26 – with Canelo having already moved off his traditional September date for this year.
Canelo is currently the no.1 star attraction of the sport, having recently signed a five-year, 11-fight deal that will pay the Mexican at least $365 million. The partnership is being described as the highest-paying athlete contract in history, so it seems only fitting that through the bethard bonus code, sports bettors can claim some big hitting bonuses ahead of this clash.
Canelo is known for his variety and ability to switch things up and alter strategy to get the victory. The same is true for sports bettors. Therefore if one bonus doesn’t fit the bill, another one will. And that is exactly what can be done by heading over to this source and investigating other exciting bonuses.
BBN took a brief look at this impending fight:
Tale Of The Tape
This bout is sure to have some fireworks that will attract millions of viewers later this year. The fight date has still not been set, but the circulating rumour is that a venue in Las Vegas has now been reserved for October 26th. However the question still begs, who is going to emerge victorious in this battle?
Firstly, let’s take a look at Canelo Alvarez. The 29-year-old Mexican sensation currently has a boxing record of 52 wins (35 by KO), 2 draws and just 1 loss. He is known for having an amazing counter punching ability, as well as having power when on the offensive. He stands at 5ft 9 and has a reach of 70.5 inches, and has enjoyed intense success in the boxing ring.
Derevyanchenko, on the other hand, is a more recently established boxing figure, in terms of his professional career anyway. The 33-year-old Ukrainian has had just 14 professional fights, although he boasts a record of 13 wins (10 by KO) and just 1 loss. He also stands at 5ft 9 and has a reach of 67 inches. When it all comes down to it “The Technician” is certainly more inexperienced than Alvarez. And for this reason Alvarez will certainly be a red hot favourite for the October clash.
The Prediction
Without a doubt, this will not be an easy fight for either competitor. Derevyanchenko has a skill set that will cause issues for almost all middleweight fighters, but then again he is coming up against the might of Mexican megastar Canelo.
The track record of Alvarez is impossible to ignore, and the sheer speed of his hands along with his incredible counter punching will likely give him the edge in this one. Yes, Derevyanchenko is a great fighter, but he will have to catch Alvarez off guard and knock him out if he wants to secure this victory, but Canelo is known for his chin, which the fearsome Gennady Golovkin tested to the full. If it goes to a technical decision, Alvarez will probably get the win due to his wealth of experience and his star status in America, as 'GGG' also found out in their brace of controversial results.
So, we are predicting an Alvarez win out there in the Nevada desert. However, whether it will be a knockout or a technical remains to be seen. Roll on October.
