Eddie Hearn forced to leave the Buatsi-Calic event
Promoter Eddie Hearn tested positive for coronavirus and had to leave the Matchroom Boxing bubble ahead of this Sunday's Joshua Buatsi vs Marko Calic event at the Marshall Arena at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.
Hearn was the only one to return a positive result in the latest batch of testing for the weekend's five-fight card headlined by Buatsi (12-0, 10KOs) defending his WBA International light-heavyweight title for a fifth time to unbeaten Croat Marko Calic (11-0, 6KOs).
Hearn tweeted on October 1: "Gutted to find out I tested positive for Covid-19 today and have to leave the bubble immediately. Thankfully all other tests were negative. Heading home to rest – catch up tomorrow."
Northampton’s Chantelle Cameron (12-0, 7KOs) gets her well deserved world title shot on the same show against unbeaten Brazilian Adriana Dos Santos Araujo (6-0, 1KOs). ‘Il Capo’ Cameron, 29, trained by Jamie Moore, won two WBC final eliminators in 2019 and now gets her shot at the WBC super-lightweight strap against the ‘Pitbull’.
Fresh from his emphatic two-round destruction of Shawndell Winters on the final weekend of Fight Camp, ‘The Savage’ Alen Babic (4-0, 4 KOs) returns to the UK looking to impress again as he locks horns with Irishman Niall Kennedy (13-1-1, 8 KOs) in an eight round Heavyweight contest.
Aqib Fiaz (5-0) and Kane Baker (13-6) look to settle the score after their Fight Camp disappointment, Luton’s Linus Udofia (15-0, 7 KOs) puts his English Middleweight Title on the line for the first time against Dillian Whyte-backed Brixton man John Harding Jr (8-1-1, 2 KOs), and recent Matchroom signing John Hedges make his pro debut at Super-Middleweight.
