July 22: Tyson Fury vs Andy Ruiz Jr.
Eddie Hearn has revealed who he believes will be Tyson Fury's next opponent after "The Gypsy King" posted on social media this week that his next fight was going to be announced imminently.
Asked who he thinks the WBC title holder will take on next, the Matchroom chief replied: "Andy Ruiz, July 22nd."
The Mexican-American was last seen dominating ageing Cuban Luis Ortiz over 12 rounds, knocking him down twice in the second and once in the seventh.
After Fury's negotiations with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk broke down, rumours have been circulating as to his next opponent will be.
The 34-year-old Morecombe man fought twice last year against Derek Chisora in December and Dillian Whyte on St. George's Day in April, winning both stadium shows via stoppage.
"The Destroyer" famously defeated Fury's domestic rival Anthony Joshua in his U.S. debut in June 2019, which he avenged six months later with a wide unanimous decision.
Comparisons will be drawn between Fury and AJ should this fight with Ruiz materialise. If they do actually meet in the ring, the height difference between Fury and Ruiz will be seven inches. However, Ruiz has been boxing for as long as Fury has and is widely underrated due his shorter, portly stature for a heavyweight.
There hasn't been any official announcements yet.
