Assassin Boxing have announced that Dylan Moran (9-0) has put pen to paper on a promotional deal with leading American outfit Star Boxing.
The Irishman joins Callum Johnson, who tackles Sean Monaghan, at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York on Saturday March 9, live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK.
Hall of Fame promoter Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing, has signed Irish welterweight sensation Dylan Moran on a three-year promotional contract.
Head of Star Boxing, Joe DeGuardia commented, "It is great to sign one of the leading names in Irish boxing. Dylan Moran is a fantastic boxer with real pedigree. With a huge Irish connection on the East Coast, Dylan has every ingredient to become a star in Ireland and America. I am really looking forward to working with him."
Star Boxing represent a number of leading names in boxing, including Demetrius Andrade, Chris Algeri, David Papot, Joe Smith Jr and many more. Joe is the son of former professional boxer Joseph DeGuardia Sr., who was active between 1947-1953, and achieved a highly successful amateur career, winning the New York Golden Gloves Championship in 1988, among other titles. He was inducted into the Connecticut Hall of Fame in 2013 and New York in 2016.
Dubbed 'The Real Deal', Moran made his pro debut back in May 2017, and since has had nine fights, winning all of them, with an impressive five KO victories.
A successful amateur, Moran won six county titles, six provisional titles, and national titles. In his early 20's he made the switch to Kick Boxing, where he won seven national titles, a European title and three world titles. He later made the transition back to boxing, as he turned to the paid ranks in 2017.
Still only 24, the Waterford-born welterweight believes he has what it takes to go all the way to the very top.
He commented, "As a kid, I always dreamed of fighting in America and being on the biggest cards. Now that dream is going to become a reality.
"I have had a brilliant career so far with Assassin Boxing, and have had the chance of fighting on TG4, something I hope I will be able to do again. However, this opportunity my team have delivered is truly amazing. To join up with someone like Joe De Guardia, who has worked with the very best boxers in The States, it's all so amazing. To hear the plans that Joe and the guys have for me is unbelievable. No doubt the hard work starts now, and I now know if I continue to dedicate myself, the opportunities are there for me, and I will prove I am one of the best in the world'.
Moran will have up to six fights in the States in 2019, and plans to fight in Ireland as well this year with the emergence of opportunities with Assassin Boxing and Irish broadcaster TG4.
Assassin Boxing added, "We are delighted to have got Dylan this opportunity. This is the start of something really special. He has a huge profile here in Ireland and that’s going to continue to grow but now he has the chance to take his career inside the ring to the next level. This time next year you’re going to be talking about Dylan Moran in the same breath as world champions."
The undefeated welterweight will fight on March 9 in New York on the undercard of a double world title bill-topping card which features WBA World light-heavyweight ruler Dmitry Bivol’s defense against Joe Smith Jr., and Maurice Hooker vs Mikkel LesPierre in a second defence of 'Mighty Mo's' WBO World super-lightweight belt that he won from Terry Flanagan last June.
