Dillian Whyte argued with Mauricio Sulaiman on the pitch at Wembley
Having an endured a wait of over 1,000 days as the WBC mandatory contender, Dillian Whyte's frustrations spilled over when he came face to face with the President of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman.
The pair exchanged some heated words on the pitch at Wembley Stadium ahead of Whyte's WBC World heavyweight title fight with champion Tyson Fury on Saturday, April 23.
34-year-old Whyte angrily said, "Mauricio, I'm going to be the first person [to say] this is my future and my future has been affected by this. Ny name, my business has been affected by this. You know, they've f****d me properly. You know? Properly. And it's cost me."
He stressed, "It's cost me millions to be here. Millions."
Sulaiman tried to appease 'The Body Snatcher' by replying, "You're here. And you're fighting as the WBC's mandatory."
Whyte immediately retorted, "Yeah, and what did it take for me to get here? It almost took my mind."
The WBC Interim champion began to get more animated at this point, stating, "This s**t here almost made me go crazy."
Mauricio again tried to reason with Dillian by bringing up the pandemic and it's limitations, to which Whyte shut him down swiftly, "I fight for the WBC title twice in the pandemic, and I still paid my sanction."
Sulaiman reiterated the pandemic's effect on matters, "But it delayed…"
Whyte replied, "But that still… but the WBC title should never be delayed! I should have fight Deontay Wilder a long time ago. A long, long time ago I should have fight Deontay Wilder. Why didn't you guys make me fight Deontay Wilder?"
Sulaiman had endured enough by this point, questioning, "Why you keep going back and back?"
"Because this is the facts," Whyte responded calmly. "Don't tell me it's pandemic, pandemic, pandemic."
Called to come off the pitch by staff, Dillian respectfully shook Mauricio's hand and concluded, "Listen, I respect your father and I respect the WBC. That's why I'm here fighting for the WBC."
Sulaiman said, "You're my friend and I wish you the best of luck. You've had great success."
The pair then hugged it out and he invited Dillian to Mexico, who accepted his invitation.
