Battersea boxer Bentley (16-1-1, 13 KOs) seized back his treasured Lonsdale belt when he beat the previously undefeated Linus Udofia back in May, having lost his title-holding status against Felix Cash just over a year before.
Defending champion Bentley, 27, is now revved up and ready to go again against the 29-year-old Morrison (24-5, 16 KOs), who is back at middleweight after trying his luck at 168lbs in a challenge for the WBO International title held by Zach Parker in November of last year.
Morrison's career reignited with the stunning knockout of Emanuele Blandamura in 2019 to win the WBC International Silver title and, two wins later, he accepted the challenge of taking on Chris Eubank jr but was defeated on points over 10 rounds.
Ellis Zorro makes his Queensberry debut after winning the BOXXER Series in Manchester, and he aims to impress in a hard matchup with former English light heavyweight champion Dec Spelman. The cruiserweights will provide chief support to the main event over eight rounds at 200lbs.
DB: "I was told in the first fight back after lockdown that I was possibly facing Marcus Morrison and then a couple of weeks later it changed to Mick Hall. So I sent out a tweet saying 'what happened to you, I thought we were meant to be fighting?' and he came back with 'wait your turn'. So I was like, okay, fair enough. Then by the end of that year I won the British and he tweeted me asking for a crack at that, so I told him to get to the back of the queue. So we had a bit of fun with each other online and stuff.
"He is someone who tries all the time and doesn't really back down or go in his shell. He has stepped up to a good level and he can punch. I haven't been in a boring fight yet, so I guess any fight I am in people will be excited to see, to be honest."
Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “This will be Bentley's fourth British title fight and it's a level where he truly belongs. I believe he beats Marcus Morrison on points, and if he does, I'd like to see if he can win the Lonsdale belt outright, with some good domestic fights out there for him, such as Danny Dignum, Kieron Conway, Hamzah Sheeraz, and more.”
