Sheffield is very well known for its boxing talent and BBN are giving it the spotlight once again to introduce to you all, debutant Shaun White. The middleweight talent goes up against another debutant in Dean Gillen on May 23rd at the Britannia Hotel, Nottingham. Hear what he had to say...   What made you want to start boxing? I started boxing in the army to help improve fitness.”   Who was your boxing hero growing up and why? “Sugar Ray Robinson was, and still is, my boxing hero.”   How old were you when you had your first fight and how did you do? “My first fight was at 20 and I did well and won on points.”   How well did you do in the amateurs? Only had limited amateur experience but I did well winning nine out of 11.”   What made you decide to turn pro? “I'm going as an away fighter! I wanted to see how I compare with the best people out there and improve my own style and progress and improve more as a boxer.” Shaun White punch What team do you have around you? “I'm boxing with Scott Calow and also train at Sheffield Dragons with Jon Buster Keaton.”   What sort of fighting style do you have? “I have a forward aggressive style with lots of various angle shots.”   What ambitions do you have for your pro career? My ambition is to get a few years at a pro level and test myself how good I really am.”   When is your first fight and who will be there in support? My first fight is 23rd May at Nottingham.”   Any message for the fans? “Thanks for all your support.”
