Day of Reckoning
By James Blears
A galaxy of heavyweight boxing stars will illuminate, gleam and redeem themselves, unleashing titanic bolts of lightning with zest, in a quest for glory, creating a fabled story entitled: Day of Reckoning, at Riyadh's Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia on December 23rd.
Festive fists, blow by blow all-action, in a viable “Mission Possible” from a quality faction, to find the remaining handful of heroes still standing, as the dust and sand settles just days before Christmas.
It's the greatest coordinated and combined show on Earth! The glittering crown jewel of the fourth Riyadh Season called Big Time, which gathers, garners, assembles and aligns a constellation of extravaganzas, sporting spectaculars, concerts, and exhibitions, in an unprecedented fantail plumage of dovetailing showcases to dazzle, thrill and enthrall the world.
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, has announced that the Riyadh Season Four will host Day of Reckoning. The event is a boxing alchemy of precious “Mettle.” Turki, as he is called by the boxing industry, has come into boxing in a moment in which the world is clamoring to see the biggest fights happen and he is certainly on a mission, the World is watching.
The charge is led by former WBC Green and Gold Heavyweight Champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder #1 vs ex-WBO Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker #8, two-time Unified Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua #2 vs Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin #9, Filip Hrgovic #11 vs Mark De Mori; former WBA Champion Daniel Dubois #14 vs undefeated Jarrell Miller.
Als, IBF Cruiserweight Champion Jai Opetai vs Ellis Zorro, and WBA Light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol vs Lyndon Arthur.
In the 1930's, pioneer promoter Mike Jacobs created Tournament Of The Champions. Fast forward six decades to the 1990's, with the visionary genius and flamboyance of the One and Only Don King, who came up with Poker De Ases. And now Day of Reckoning is the next stage of this evolution.
At the World Boxing Council's Convention in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, during a select media session with Mike Tyson, a reporter asked whether The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia could rival Las Vegas for boxing extravaganzas and the United States overall, for staging The Noble Art.
“Iron Mike” shrewdly responded by saying the key to all of this lies in consistency, via breadth and depth. There's always some sort of boxing activity going on and ongoing within the United States, which nurtures, nourishes and sustains boxing. If my friend, HE Turki has continuity he can certainly create the new mecca of boxing.
An event of this sheer magnitude in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the certitude of more to follow, generates a momentum stoking a furnace of white hot inspiration.
This historic event is by itself a major set of elimination fights within the ranks of the WBC which by the way announced that The Fury vs Usyk fight for the Undisputed heavyweight championship has been officially sanctioned with the rematch also accepted to take place with WBC sanctioning. The process for the WBC mandatory will be addressed in 2024.
