Dan Azeez produced a sensational performance as he stopped Charlie Duffield to become the new Southern Area light-heavyweight champion.
Unbeaten Azeez (9-0, 6 KOs) was in total control throughout the fight, putting in a dominant performance to earn a TKO win in the sixth round at the O2 Arena in London.
Azeez’s victory over Duffield has seen him send a huge statement out to the rest of the domestic 175 lb division, and he was understandably delighted to win the first title of his career on a huge stage.
Azeez said: “I feel like this is a dream. I was fighting for my first title in a beautiful arena on such a great card. Thanks to everyone that has come out to support me.
“When I’m in the ring everything is blacked out and it’s about getting the job done, and now we’ll move on to whatever the next objective is.
“I’ve got so much love and respect for Charlie, so during the build up it was hard to gear up and get ready to fight someone like him, but in the ring it’s just business.
“Thanks to MTK Global and Matchroom Boxing for putting me on this show and this is the start of propelling my career onto the big stages.”
