Croatian featherweight prospect Arijan Goricki outpoints Emiliano Salvini
'Archie' secures 10th pro win and sets sights on European title in 2022
Arijan Goricki (10-1-1, 4KOs) pushed his win tally into double figures with a unanimous points decision over two-weight Italian champion Emiliano Salvini (19-36-2, 2KOs).
The fight took place at the Zagreb Fair, Croatia, broadcast live on Zapad Television and on their Facebook page.
24-year-old 'Archie' Goricki spoke honestly after the fight, "I entered the fight with not the best tactics for this fight, but we learn while we are alive. I would like to thank Salvini and his team for accepting the fight, it was a pleasure to share the ring with such a veteran.
"My plan was to finish Salvini so I made a lot of mistakes in the hope of knocking him out, so I received a couple of unnecessary punches, I needed to do it a lot better. Now that the fight is over, I’m glad I boxed the way I did, I’ve gained a great experience.
"Salvini is a very short opponent, it is difficult to box with him. Although he has many years, I was surprised by the physical condition of Emiliano, it is nice to see that he can be in such good shape at that age.
"I wanted much bigger names for this fight, but unfortunately it was not possible, no matter who is opposite me in the ring, I want to prove myself, so it was the same this time. As I've said before, my style is the most effective in the fights in the 10th and 12th rounds, then I will show my full potential.
"Next year we plan to fight with experienced boxers who have a strong name, with a little help from sponsors and finding new ones, I will be able to afford those fights because I still bear the whole organization of the fight alone.
"We are planning the next fight for March 2022, and we are continuing with our plan for a better ranking and attack on the European title.
"I would like to thank my team for their excellent preparations and excellent tactics. I have to thank my friends and sponsors who help me in every fight, including this one, and to rank as soon as possible to the world stage as soon as I want to."
