Craig Glover defeat costs him the shot at the English title
The BBBofC announced on April 2 that Craig Glover's (9-2) inside distance defeat to Vaclav Pejsar (14-7) on March 30 has cost him the intended shot at the English cruiserweight championship.
His second-round TKO at the hands of the heavy-handed Czech Republic cruiser, who has 12 KOs from 14 victories, last Saturday night in front of his home crowd at the Echo Arena in Liverpool has cost him the chance to contest the vacant English championship next.
The Stewards decided to withdraw Glover from the intended English cruiserweight championship with Deion Jumah and will reconsider the championship contest at a later date.
Southpaw Deion Jumah (11-0), 2 from Chelsea, will now be handed another opponent in due course. Winning the Southern Area cruiserweight title with a fifth-round TKO over Ossie Jervier (6-5) last December landed the Londoner the shot at the national title next.
It's the second time that Jumah has been subjected to a withdrawal after Chris Billam-Smith (8-0) decided to pull out of their initial mandated fight, which saw Glover handed the shot instead, ordered to take place before the end of July 2019.
Another opponent is expected to be named very soon, with the contest likely to still be scheduled before the end of July.
