Rodolfo Orozco suspended while under investigation
Conor Benn's September 23 opponent Rodolfo Orozco returned an adverse analytical finding for a banned substance in a test conducted by the VADA and has been suspended as a result.
BoxingScene.com broke the story on Wednesday, November 22, after they learned that the Mexican had been temporarily suspended by the florida License Commission following a returned positive drugs test taken on September 24.
The VADA sample produced an adverse finding for a banned substance.
Benn complied with all the testing before and after the fight.
24-year-old Orozco was beaten handily by the Brit, with two cards reading 99-91 against.
Benn (22-0, 14KO) showed little signs of ring rust as he got back in the ring for the first time since April 2022, landing heavy attacks on Orozco early, managing to buckle the legs of the Mexican in the third round.
Orozco (32-4-3, 24KO) absorbed much punishment throughout the 10 tough rounds, but had that toughness synonymous with Mexico.
Prior to that bout, his last five victories all ended via stoppage. He made his professional debut in 2016 at just 16 years of age, and 18 of his 24 KOs have come within the first half of his contests, and 17 within just three rounds.
There hasn't yet been any official statements made while the investigation gets underway.
