Charlie Edwards joins Joe Gallagher in a bid for more world titles
On May 13, former WBC world champion Charlie Edwards (17-1, 7KO) announced he has joined new trainer Joe Gallagher in a bid to win more world titles in his career.
He announced on social media: "Pen to paper and I am ready to push forward with my career. I have now signed a managers contract with @gallaghersboxinggym and I believe he is the man to guide me to become a multi weight world champion in the next few years of my career."
The Surrey man was only in action last December when he dusted off the ring rust from a 15-month layoff with a second-round stoppage over Spanish bantamweight champion Jacob Barreto at the York Hall.
The 29-year-old moved up to bantamweight after vacating his WBC World flyweight title in 2019. The 118lbs division is curently brimming with talent, with nig names such as Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire leading the pack.
