Carl Froch on KSI vs Fury: “This isn't professional boxing!”
With the highly anticipated Misfits card, headlined by KSI and Tommy Fury, taking place this weekend, former world champion Carl Froch has slammed the event, calling it a “clown business”, and also sent a warning to the unbeaten professional boxer, demanding nothing but victory against the highly successful YouTuber.
Speaking to Best Gambling Sites, 'The Cobra' Froch said:
Influencer boxing is play fighting – Tommy Fury better win!
“Tommy Fury and KSI should not be called boxing. For me this isn't professional boxing. KSI isn't a pro-fighter and this should be called a night of play fighting not professional boxing. But Tommy Fury better f****** win because even though this is play fighting, he’s representing pro boxing. He still should have way more than enough to beat KSI, like he did against Jake Paul. He’ll beat KSI as a professional fighter should. I like Tommy Fury and I think fair play to him. He’s making mega money, so he's smashing it. When I was at his stage of his career I was probably fighting for an area title. I became English champion and then stepped up to British title level and they were harder fights than what he's got with Jake Paul and KSI, and he's making an absolute fortune. Well done to you, pal. Keep smashing it. But I won’t be watching it. I ain't staying up and watching that dog sh**. No chance.”
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Froch added, “People in the industry say that Tommy Fury is a professional boxer, but I disagree. I think he's a Youtuber. He's affiliated with professional boxers through his family and he got a Board of Control licence, but he is a Youtube fighter. He's known for being in Youtube fights. And now he's fighting KSI, who is a youtuber. He's not a boxer, he’s probably not even a part time boxer. Just own it. Vidall Riley has owned it, he really wants to be a professional boxer.
“I'd much rather put my efforts into being a better boxer than a better Youtuber, and I don't think Fury does that. I think he's more concerned with Youtuber status and I think that celebrity world comes more naturally to him than boxing, and I think once you're in it to the length and depths that he is, you can't come back from that. I'd make him a Youtuber boxer rather than a pro boxer. And I don't think this fight with KSI is as easy as what they make out. KSI’s light and agile enough on his feet. If he backs himself in this fight he might give Fury a run for his money. I haven't seen an awful lot of Fury. I saw KSI’s last fight against Joe Fournier, he’s light and agile, he might be up for it and he could outbox and outfox Fury.”
Dillon Danis has crossed the line in posting Logan Paul’s fiance, but there is no integrity in Influencer boxing
“Posting pictures of Logan’s missus is in bad taste. It's crossing the line. But I bet neither of them are even bothered. Logan’s probably really thinking, 'oh, this is alright, he's drumming up a bit of interest'. This is why it should be called play fighting. All these clowns are play fighting, and they're all doing what they need to do to try and sell it and make money, and I can see straight through it. It's quite entertaining if you're into it. I can imagine it being quite entertaining somebody posting some picture of his misses to drum it up, but for me, I just shake my head and just do a half a smile and say, 'what is it happening? Please stop calling yourself professional boxers', stop doing it, because professional boxing is a serious business, and this is the f****** clown business, and I can’t emphasise it enough. And Tommy Fury is giving it credence. But he's making money so fair play to him.
“Dillon Danis has crossed a line but that’s the level of integrity in this play fighting, Misfits world. It’s a pantomime. And it’s also pantomime when they get in there and start to throw punches. Jake Paul against Nate Diaz. Oh, my goodness, I've seen better white collar fights. Jake Paul called me out and then he got shot down, he didn't want to take me up on what he said. He told me to fight Anderson Silva and then he’d fight me. I said I'll fight you both on the same night and it just went quiet, so Jake Paul is a sh*thouse bottle job. I would put him into f****** orbit, and he's realised it. He won’t come anywhere near this old man. He's got no intentions of fighting anybody who can actually fight. People might say he’s fought Tommy fury. But Fury is a novice pro.”
