Carl Froch picks Leigh Wood to beat Josh Warrington
As a huge domestic clash hangs upon us in the Featherweight division between Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington, this weekend in Sheffield, former World Champion Carl Froch has passed the torch and dubbed Wood the “new sheriff for Nottingham’’ as he predicts victory for for his fellow Nottinghamian.
Speaking exclusively to Best Gambling Sites, former world champion Froch gave his prediction for Saturday night, “Leigh Wood has got the skills and the ability to beat Josh Warrington, I think Warrington is past his best. He's not fought for ages. He’s been a great fighter – had a heart of the lion and I never thought he’d beat Frampton, and he proved me wrong, he was strong, tough and fit – but maybe that side of him is going now he’s getting older and is inactive.
“But regardless of the inactivity or getting old, I still think Wood would always give him a really tough fight and make it hard from a him and nick it on points, but I just think because of the timing of it, and where Wood is in his career, coming back against Lara, he's on the crest of a wave and he's motivated. He's got more desire. I think he’ll do a really good job of beating Warrington on points, it will be a landslide point victory if he gets the tactics right, which I'm sure he will with Ben Davison.
“I’m really proud of him and I've crowned him the new sheriff for Nottingham, he’s taken my spot.”
