Campbell Hatton announces himself to the world on March 27
Campbell Hatton’s pro debut is fast approaching this Saturday night, March 27, at the Europa Point Sports Complex in Gibraltar against Jesus Ruiz (0-10), shown live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on DAZN in all other markets.
Following in the footsteps of his Father and Manager, Ricky, Matchroom follow Campbell’s build-up to his first fight in the pro ranks. Carrying the family name, ‘The Hurricane’ sets off on his own journey this weekend after signing professional terms with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom in December. He is trained by his uncle, Matthew, a world title challenger. He is also signed to Anthony Joshua's management team, 258 MGT to handle his media presence.
The 19-year-old Manchester City fanatic has been boxing properly since the age of 14 and won a National Novice title and two North West titles. For his inauguration into the professional ranks, he faces a tough Spaniard, who has already fought 10 times as a pro.
Who is Jesus Ruiz?
Jesus Garcia Ruiz's last fight was over 21 months ago now, due to the COVID pandemic. Despite never having his hand raised in a professional ring, the Andalucian has only ever been stopped on his pro debut in December 2017. He has gone up against 10 opponents with a combined record of 19-5-2. For an away opponent, only one stoppage over 10 fights and 47 rounds is quite impressive, and the Spaniard's last three contests have all been six-rounders, so he will have the upper hand in experience against fledgling Hatton.
DOB: 17/11/1988
