Campbell Hatton makes a statement againsy Attila Csereklye with first ever KO in his career
Campbell Hatton (5-0, 1KOs) made a statement with a second-round stoppage over Attila Csereklye (10-25, 8KOs) in Bilbao, Spain on Friday, December 3.
The 20-year-old rising star bounced back from a bad performance in his last fight to KO Hungarian Attila Csereklye in round two with shades of his father, Ricky, landing brutal body blows.
Campbell Hatton cut a confident figure in the corner as the first bell rang against Attila Csereklye, looking poised and and assured.
Scheduled for six rounds at lightweight, Campbell was sharp with his jab, varying the shots from the very first round to head and body, resulting in scoring a knockdown in just 90 seconds. He patiently took his time, got back on his jab, then unleashed a beautiful left hook to the body to floor Csereklye a second time just 10 seconds later. The move started with a left hook feinted to the temple followed quickly by the looping left body shot.
In round two, Campbell was spiteful and went in for the kill, reminiscent of his dad, Ricky Hatton. He had Csereklye trapped in the corner and cleverly shifted his feet, pivoting to make room for his big body blows. A left uppercut downed the No.1 ranked lightweight in Hungary at 2-minutes-45 of the second stanza, of which the 25-year-old from Budapest decided he had enough for one night.
Post-fight, the likeable lightweight joked, “About time innit? But yeah, buzzing. Just shown there, I think you could see from the start I wasn't trying to stop him.
“So I was trying to be a bit more patient, trying to make him miss a bit more and use my jab. And it happened by accident, so we know what to do next time."
The fight was on the undercard of Kerman Lejarraga (34-2, 26KOs) vs Jack Flatley (17-2-1, 4 KOs) European super-welterweight title fight, which the Spaniard won with a devastating ninth-round knockout read more…
