Brothers Peter and Joe McGrail to share bill at the Echo again
Peter and Joe McGrail have been added to the Probellum event in Liverpool on April 22, headlined by John Riel Casimero and Paul Butler in their WBO World bantamweight title fight.
The brothers head back to the same setting for their last fights. Joe McGrail (1-0, 1KO) had his pro debut at the Echo Arena in December, sharing the card with older brother Peter (2-0, 1KO), who also had his pro debut there in October.
Trained by Paul Stevenson in the Everton Red Triangle gym, the brothers each scored second-round knockouts on the undercard of Conor Benn vs Chris Algieri on December 11, live on DAZN.
The pair just recently signed promotional contracts with Probellum earlier this month.
19-year-old Joe was a standout amateur, winning a European junior silver medal and the National ABAs, experiencing over 50 bouts in total.
Super-bantamweight Peter, 25, is a 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist who turned over straight after taking part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Joe shared his delight at boxing locally with his older brother again, “Obviously very pleased, got to thank my team for keeping me nice and busy, which is what I want. Another big show in the Echo so I’m absolutely buzzing.
“A lot of talent on the show, obviously myself, my brother, Luke McCormack, Will Cawley, then you’ve got Rocky Fielding and Paul Butler – two local lads who I’ve been watching since I was a little kid, so it’s a pleasure for me to be on the show with them names.
“It's going to be another special night for the family with me and our Peter both being on it, so yeah I’m looking forward to it.”
Older brother Peter added, “Made up to be on another show in Liverpool alongside my brother again. Obviously, it's another good night for the family, and for myself.
“It's great to have so many of my early fights in Liverpool, for my family and for the gym, for Paul and Anthony and the [Everton Red] Triangle, so just looking forward to fighting again and keeping the ball rolling from last year.”
Also on the Casimero-Butler card are the Probellum duo of rising-star Will Cawley (1-0), who will be aiming to build on his impressive debut victory in November 2021, and former Olympian Luke McCormack, who is set to make his pro bow following a superb career at amateur level, during which time he represented Team GB.
