RIP Ron
Respected journalist Ron Lewis sadly passed away suddenly on February 10, 2023, after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Just 54-years-old at the time of his premature passing, Ron's wife broke the tragic news yesterday on his Twitter profile: "I am sorry to announce the death of my husband Ron. He passed away this morning at the age of 54. It was a complete shock. It’s wonderful reading all your messages and memories of him as his phone keep pinging. Thank you everyone who was a part of his life."
Lewis died at his home in London, survived by his wife, Ellie, their 12-year-old son, Stanley, and their nine-year-old daughter, Polly.
"RIP Ron" has been trending on Twitter since the unexpected news was announced, which fittingly displays the love and respect Ron had amongst his colleagues and friends.
Ron was a long-time writer for Boxing Scene and covered four Olympic Games for The Times, and worked for various publications since the 1980s. He was just 15 when he began writing for Boxing News and the Ealing Gazette. He also worked as an editor for two more of the UK’s prominent publications, The Guardian and Daily Mail, prior to his long tenure at The Times.
