Boxing in mourning as news of Kyle Goodwin's untimely death spreads
The 29-year-old from Telford, Kyle Goodwin, fought at the O2 Arena against Ricky Nelder, a former British champion in the bareknuckle boxing hall of fame.
News broke of his untimely death on Friday, December 16, 2022, which sent the boxing world into mourning.
Fellow bare knuckle boxer Connor Tierney paid tribute, "So gutted to hear this young man took his life this morning – Kyle Goodwin was a single father who boxed and done bare knuckle, he loved the sports and was a big fan. Kyle, I wish you would of spoke up mate, I would of come and seen you after the way I have felt today hearing this."
Kyle was a full-time carer for his young son Rory, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2021. He also had a younger daughter called Harley.
He told the Shropshire Star last September during an interview, “I gave up work to become a full-time carer after Rory was diagnosed with leukaemia last August.
“Rory has responded well to treatment. He is fighting it.
“Rory is looking healthy and putting weight back on. We are in long-term maintenance now. His end of treatment date is November 17, 2023.”
Kyle trained at Telford White-Collar Boxing under coach Ash Addison.
BBN would like to express their deepest condolences to Kyle's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
