Joshua Gustave goes from Channel 4’s Who Dares Wins show to BOX MANIA 4
Out of the frying pan and into the fire for Joshua Gustave
One of the countries leading super-welterweight prospects, 24 year old Joshua Gustave (3-0), has been busy of late. The Essex man recently competed in the hit Channel 4 SAS: Who Dares Wins show, presented by ex-special forces from the UK and U.S., coming out as joint winner.
20 recruits are painfully whittled down to seven surviving finalists, with only one crowned the winner, but in Series 4, more than one champion was chosen, as the final three couldn't be split. Unbeaten super-welterweight, signed to Goodwin Promotions, Joshua Gustave emerged from the grueling competition as one of those deserving winners.
Gustave came though the grueling tasks set over six weeks of hell where he also battled personal demons, such as his anxiety and overthinking, and captured the public's imagination with over 100k new Instagram followers now joining him on his journey.
That new journey starts next weekend. Currently 3-0 as a professional, without losing a round, Joshua steps back into the ring on one of the best small hall shows of the year – BOX MANIA 4 at York Hall, Bethnal Green on 11th March.
The Ilford man steps up to six-rounds in just his fourth bout and also accepts the challenge of facing Southern Area middleweight title contender, Robbie Chapman (10-25-3, 1KO).
Known as 'The Camden Caretaker', London's Chapman won six from his first seven bouts, which earned him a shot at boxing's oldest prize. He was beaten to the Southern Area belt by the talented Brad Pauls, but has since taken on the role as opponent in the away corner, where he has upset many unbeaten prospects. In the last five months alone, three undefeated fighters have had to settle for a draw against him.
Gustave and Chapman is set to be an intriguing affair, with the SAS-worthy fighter taking a big step up in levels due to his confidence being sky-high at the moment, but he has yet another grueling task on his hands.
The fight card is topped by two Southern Area championship clashes. Lewis Frimpong (6-0) and Connor Adaway (5-0) will lock horns for the vacant Southern Area featherweight title, where one will win the belt and the other their will give away their unbeaten record. The same is at stake in the Southern Area light-heavyweight clash between Kent's Paul Brown (7-0) and Bromley's Jack Owen (5-0-2).
Plus former English cruiserweight champion “The Major” Arfan Iqbal will be involved in his first fight at heavyweight, and an appearance from super-lightweight prospect Pat Gill and super-middleweight prospect Ellis Steward, as well as the eagerly awaited debut of Kent’s Fred Secular.
