Billy Joe Saunders speaks out for the first time since stabbing allegations
After a video surfaced on YouTube on November 28, accusing former two-weight world champion Billy Joe Saunders of stabbing a fellow traveller through the hand, the controversial boxer has now spoken out for the first time to quash the rumours about him.
He said in a statement made on social media today: "I am aware of a video circulating on social media. It makes certain allegations against me, all of which are complete rubbish. However, given the police may be involved at some stage, my lawyer advises me to make no public comment at this stage.
"I am, of course, more than happy to speak to the police should they wish to contact me."
YouTube video surfaces accusing Billy Joe Saunders of stabbing another traveller through the hand
In a short video uploaded to YouTube during the last weekend of November, a traveller from a family called the Dunnes sent a direct message to Billy Joe Saunders accusing him of stabbing a knife through his son's hand and pulling a gun on another of his sons.
The father of four boys gives very specific details of an arranged fight that spilled out of control resulting in one of his sons ending up in hospital with a knife wound and another in a police cell following his arrest.
Although there is no proof provided to accusations made during the short clip, Billy Joe has been known to get into trouble on many occasions in the past and was fined £15k by the BBBofC only last year for sharing a video that seemed to promote domestic violence.
The video has now been viewed over 100,000 times.
