Artem Harutyunyan wins WBC International championship with a KO!
On Saturday, September 25, at the Universum Gymnasium in Hamburg, Germany, undefeated Armenian Artem Harutyunyan (11-0, 7KOs) knocked out former Spanish champion Samuel Molina (16-1, 7KOs) in the fifth round to win the WBC International lightweight title.
The Spaniard was having a good fight and seemed to dominate to begn with, but just when the German was in a tight spot, a left hook to the chin at 2 minutes and 31 seconds into the fifth round knocked him out.
“I knew that my opponent was young, wild and motivated and he wanted to give everything to defeat me. I was able to counter him and finish the fight. I am very happy and excited to win the WBC International title,” said the victor Harutyunyan, who won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
