Gorički evens the score against rival Romanenia in rematch
Arijan Gorički (9-1-1, 4KOs) defeated rival Valerii Romanenia (3-1, 1KO) in their rematch, three months on from their first meeting.
Gorički defeated Romanenia on points over eight rounds in his home town of Zagreb in Croatia on October 16.
The Croatian featherweight inflicted the first defeat on the Ukrainian's career to get him back for doing the same to him earlier this year when Romanenia won over six rounds.
The event was broadcast live on Zapad TV and their social media channels.
The 24-year-old known as 'Archie' said, "From the first round I stuck to the plan we made, which worked and we exhausted Valerii by the fourth round.
"In the fifth round, we started with a stronger pace and tried to tire him. Valerii was really well prepared and ready, he managed to stay on his feet until the end of the fight, the goal was to knock him out in the seventh or eighth round.
"As in the first fight, my eardrum ruptured, but this time it was in my left ear.
"I have corrected my mistake and I am going forward according to the plan for my career. My best fights will be in the 10th and 12th rounds, I can't wait to be in such fights to show my full potential. I don't want to box a small number of rounds anymore, my style is most effective over longer rounds and I believe that I can carry power into the later rounds.
"We plan the next fight for December 2021, and we are continuing with our plan for a better ranking and attack on the European title. I am glad that I avenged this defeat, I knew that I lost because of myself. I could not sleep normally until I settled the bills, which I corrected tonight.
"I would like to thank my team, which did a great job, and coach Marko Bracic for his excellent fighting tactics. I have to thank my friends and sponsors (Paradise Tomatoes, X-Logic, Dentum, Admiral, AX-Soling, Koenigimmo24.de) who help me in every fight, including this one, and to our way to rank on the world stage as soon as possible."
