Arijan Goricki vs Caril Herrera 2
Croatian featherweight prospect Arijan Goricki (13-3, 6KO) will face Uruguayan boxer Caril Herrera (43-6, 26KO) on Saturday October 14th at Zagreb Fair – Pavilion 18, Zagreb, Croatia.
The fight takes place in the featherweight division (57 kg / 126 lbs) and is scheduled for 10 rounds. The weigh-in will take place on Friday, October 13 at the Grand Casino Admiral (Rudeska cesta 140, Zagreb, Croatia) starting at 2:30 p.m.
'Archie' is coming off a loss against Caril Herrera in March of this year, where he lost by knockout in the 10th and final round.
South American southpaw Caril Herrera is an experienced boxer, with 51 fights as experience, with an impressive 43 wins and only six defeats (plus two No Contests).
The 42-year-old veteran is extremely strong, knocking out over half his opponents, 26 from 51. Within his first 10 professional fights, Herrera had won the Uruguayan super-bantamweight title and knocked out eight fighters. He went on to win WBA Fedelatin, WBC Latino, and another Uruguayan title at featherweight.
"I am glad that we will enter the ring together again so that he can correct his mistake. In the first fight, I led the entire fight, because of my desire to knock him out, I was the one who was knocked out 20 seconds before the end of the fight," said Gorički .
"I'm a person who doesn't know how to live in the middle, either I'll be at the top, trying to get to the top, or I won't be anywhere," Gorički wrote on his Instagram profile. "For anyone who thinks they know the reason why I lost, there's no reason to worry, I'm smart enough to see my mistake and work on it. There is only one reason why I was knocked out, and that's because when you fight against world-class fighters who are strong, if you don't see a punch, you will go to sleep, simple as that.
I chose a bad tactic for the fight but regardless of that I was still winning the whole fight comfortably. I never saw the punch because it came from an odd angle and southpaw stance, that's why I paid the price and got lessons for the rest of my career. Thankfully I got a new date to correct the mistake and get back to where I was supposed to be. As in life, so in sports, any lesson that sets you back in your life is actually good for you, if you find out what the problem was, correct it and face the problem, it shouldn't happen again in the future.. And it's a good lesson to actually learn about yourself, who you really are, see who is with you and who your real friends are."
