Anthony Joshua reveals the changes COVID-19 has meant for his preparation and training routine
Before his World heavyweight title defence on Saturday, Treated.com spoke to Anthony Joshua about his training routine leading up to the important fight, and what COVID-19 has meant for his preparation.
A challenging time:
‘This has been such a challenging time for everyone,’ he told us, ‘in every walk of life and profession. But lucky for me training has not really been affected. Everything we have done has been near enough the same. It has of course caused challenges with frequent testing and traveling for overseas sparring partners but these are obstacles we were able to overcome.’
Time for new routines:
For AJ, lockdown has meant more time to focus on training and new routines. ‘I spent the time working on new things in the gym and was able to come into this camp already fit and ready.’
Quality time with family:
ockdown has also meant Joshua has been able to spend more quality time with loved ones. ‘It has given me the opportunity to slow down and spend time with my family which is a positive.’
The importance of testing:
Treated.com has been providing testing services to the Joshua camp over the past months, with him and his trainers being tested regularly to help ensure that they are working in a COVID-safe environment. ‘The team at Treated.com have helped test the whole team on a weekly basis. We then tested anyone who needed to come into our camp bubble. The process was effortless with the self administrative tests.’
A slightly different pre-fight buzz:
‘It has certainly been very different in the build up.’ commented Joshua. ‘I do hope though that the fight is a good opportunity to bring some entertainment for the people who have been in lockdown all year and provide a pre Christmas treat for everyone.’
Treated.com is a registered pharmacy, offering COVID-19 testing services in partnership with the UK’s leading pathology lab. The service is open to people who want to test themselves individually or test before overseas travel. There’s also a testing for business option, with bespoke services available for organisations large or small.
