Joshua set for showstopping eighth round win
British heavyweight predicted to secure 23rd minute stoppage
Anthony Joshua will stop Jermaine Franklin in the eighth round of their clash at the O2 Arena on Saturday night, according to predictions from Sporting Index.
The spread betting firm forecast that the referee will stop the bout in the 23rd minute, with the former British champion the victor.
Joshua comes into the fight as the overwhelming favourite and is favoured to win by stoppage with odds of 7/25, while Franklin is an 10/1 shot.
If the bout heads to the judges’ scorecards Joshua is still favoured at 4/1, with Franklin 14/1 to win on points.
Neville Burdock, Head of Sportsbook at Sporting Index, said: “While Anthony Joshua will have all the home support following his successive losses to Oleksandr Usyk, the Brit is unlikely to need the backing of the crowd, with a swift 23rd minute knockout predicted.
“Our predictions indicate that Joshua is unlikely to leave his fate in the judges’ hands, as he is 7/25 to secure a stoppage victory.
“While it seems an unlikely outcome, Jermaine Franklin to produce the upset is priced at 13/2 with a stoppage victory the most likely path to victory for the American at 10/1.”
