Anthony Joshua (20-0) stopped brave challenger Carlos Takam (35-4-1) in round-10
It was a brave performance, as predicted, from Frenchman Takam who survived an earlier knockdown only to be saved by the referee in the 10th-round.
It was a one-sided affair but the IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight champion hung in there for almost 30 minutes against the unbeaten monster that now boasts 20 knockouts from 20 fights.
In the second-round, the champion appeared to be bleeding from the nose in an apparant headbutt from Takam, but the Watford resident got his own back by decking him in the fourth, but the bell saved him.
Joshua again showed signs of fatigue past the midway point and Takam even managed to bag a round or two of his own.
It was a rather tame stoppage in the end as referee Phil Edwards had seen enough damage over the rounds to make the decision.
Post-fight, AJ commented, “I have no interest in what’s going on with the officials, I just worry about my opponent. Unfortunately, the ref stopped it. I think people wanted to see Takam unconscious on the floor, am I right?
“He was getting there. I didn’t have control over the ref’s decision. We get the win and now we look forward to 2018.”
